The navigation board in the Dynavin V1-V5 uses Windows CE as the operating system. A developer by the name of petrut has been working very diligently on patches that "unlock" the full potential of the Dynavin. This patch enables USB WiFi adapters to connect to wireless access points, WiFi hotspots, and most importantly, to a smartphone.

By tethering the Dynavin to your phone, you will be able to access the phone's internet connection without paying for two data plans. If you use Dynavin's USB 3G adapter, you will need to purchase another SIM card and pay for another data plan. � You need to buy the WinCE Desktop Patch for Dynavin devices in order to use the WiFi Patch.� The WiFi Patch comes with a license valid for only the device that was built for. If you have more than one device, you must purchase a reseller license.� You need to re-flash the WinCE firmware because all 3G units use a Chinese version of WinCE.

How to identify the right wince patch and wifi / 3g compatibility :Example : Operating system / Board wifi patch wince and platform / Screen resolutionWince 6 / Nowada 2450 / 800x480- a) first you must identify the operating system of the gps board. For example, all Dynavin units, VW units from Winca, Audiosources, Maisun, have Nowada boards inside.If unsure, to find your board wijce and platform, download this package, extract files and put them on GPS SD !- set navigation path to Resinfo.exe and run it, and look and next screenshots:- in first screenshot, you can see platform type and screen wifi patch wince. This is what you need to identify the right patch !

This can be Nowada 2440, Nowada 2450, Haoke, Flyaudio, etc. Please note that Mesada 2440 is equal to Nowada 2450, patdh you MUST get Nowada 2450 patch if you have Mesada 2440 board.- in second screenshot, you can see partitions names. Usually wincs is a NandFlash and NwdFlash, ResidentFlash, etc., also SD card name (StorageCard, Storage Card, SDMMC, SDMEM, etc).

This can help me build a custom patch for you, if i don`t have a patch for your system on this oatch to be sure that wifi / 3g patch will work on your unit, you need USB access from wince system.

To check if you have usb access, connect a usb flash drive to the USB GPS cable (built in or USB mod) and run total commander (cecmd.exe).

If you can read the contents of flash drive in total commander, patcg / 3g will work. Another way to check is witi plug in ther usb port a usb device (wifi, bluetooth dongle, etc), and if system will ask for drivers, then wifi / 3g wincr will work.2. USB mod:This is necessary for WiFi, 3G for ALL units except Dynavin ( their units have USB port connected to wince ) !!!- this is easy job, but may void your waranty !- you need to open the unit, and find the gps board ( is a small board, with the gps antenna cable attached to it )- you also need a usb extension cable, get a good quality, shielded one ; and some soldering skills :)- wihce must solder the usb cable to the pins 9,10,11,12, exactly in the order from picture, please respect color code.

Pin number 1 ( from where you count to 9,10,etc ), is the pin with a small arrow above ( see picture ) or with a square soldering shape.- test the connection before closing the unit !

OK, after paying your money you will immediately receive an wjnce from Petrut with a password to download down the patch. Extract the patch to a temporary folder on your computer. You will find within it, a file, 'READMEFIRST.doc'. Print this out and read carefully. While the following is detailed in Petrut's instructions I will try to add tips where I see mistakes can be made.As the internal messages of WinCE are not normally seen, and as the Dynavin is manufactured in China, many of these messages are in Chinese.

Petrut provides a link to English firmware to correct these messages. Do this first!English firmware for WinCEThere is file for Dynavin V3-4 and another for Pacth.

Choose and download the correct patch and extract. It contains a file, nwdtcali.exe and a folder, autoupdate. Load these to the root of your SD card.For v5 only:1. Insert the SD card in your Dynavin and switch on. The update will start by itself.2. Wait. ; screen will stall and say "waiting. .3. Wait 3 min, and then turn off unit.4. Remove SD Card; delete the autoupdate Folder and nwdtcali.exe from root of SD card.5. Reinstall the SD card in the unit and power on.You now have WINCE in English.For v3, v4 only:1. Install the SD card in your Dynavin and switch on.

The update will start by itself.2. Wait. wincd the system will say success, and maybe popup a nwdcali window with some chinese words.3. Press Wnice, then press Restart or power off unit.4. Remove SD Card, delete autoupdate Folder and nwdtcali.exe from root patcb SD card.5. Reinstall SD card in unit and power on.You now have WINCE in English.Preparation for installing the WinCE patchMake sure you have at least 100Mb of free space on your SD card.Now while you have extracted the WinCE patch to a temporary folder you now need to aifi and extract the data files for our size of screen.

data800x400.rar Petrut provides the link in his instructions.Extract and copy the ' Program Files' folder in data800x400.rar to the wincepatch folder in your temporary folder.Now copy the entire wincepatch folder to the ROOT of your GPS Wii card.1. Insert the SD card in the GPS slot and power on the device.2. Set the navigation path to StorageCardwincepatchinstall.exe3. Disable 'start navigation program automatically' (This important otherwise you can't go back to the System settings later.)4. Also installed the Wifi patch but sold my unit before been able to test qifi with the WIFI new wince 6 patch coming this week especially latch wifi/3g customers. I'm not too bothered about wifi altough always handy, so my questions are will this patch work on my system and what stuff can it do. I think I read something somewhere about it controlling trip computer functions from obd2 socket?

Since in advance. Ross So I've been doing some reading around to see if I can make iGo Primo more responsive on my D99 Windows CE unit. Some of the time its fast and snappy, other times its slow and laggy winnce often ptch frustrating to use.I keep coming across something called 'GAPI' but wnice manage to find a specific explanation of wii it is or where I could get it.

Will this help me?Alternatively, will buying the CE patch speed things up? I'm not particularly bothered about internet access etc wjfi - all I want is Igo (Which currently autoloads and this is something I want to keep).
